Mustard and eggs: deviled scrambled
If you love eggs and love mustard, chances are you might also love deviled eggs. Imagine our absolute delight at stumbling across this 1930’s-era recipe for deviled scrambled eggs.
Better Homes & Gardens has a sour cream-driven version that is all well and good. But, Food.com’s version with pickles? Are you serious right now. YES.
Obviously, that sent us on a quest to sort out the absolute best pickles, mustard and mayonnaise to use to fine-tune this recipe even more. Here’s where we landed:
Mustard
Top mustard pick: it was a tie between the classic French’s Yellow mustard and Plochman’s Original
Runner up, with a twist: Morehouse Jalapeño Mustard is damn good in this recipe, if you like a little heat
Mayonnaise
Top mayo pick: Duke’s Original, hands down
Runner up: Ayoh Dill Pickle Mayo Sando Sauce
Pickles
Chopped up and folded into the recipe, this is where the team split, with everyone have a strong preference for completely different pickles, so here are all the ones we tried and loved:
Bread and Butter pickles: chopped up and folded into the recipe, the team liked Bubbies Bread & Butter Chips and Mt. Olive Bread & Butter Pickles brands best.
Dill pickles: Everyone on team dill pickles liked Tru Kosher Dills, Bubbies Kosher Dills, and SuckerPunch Bold Burger Dill Pickle Chips. And, honorable mention to Bluebonnet Creek Farms Texas Hill Country Hot Garlic Dill Pickles, though mostly these were just good on their own. Grillo’s Pickles Classic Dill Chips also get credit here, but with them, they were best to dice and add after the eggs were plated.
This, but deconstructed and make it breakfast.
